Key Stage 1 · Year 2 · ages 6 or 7
Year 2: topics explained for parents
Year 2 is the last year of Key Stage 1, and children who did not meet the standard in Year 1 retake the phonics check. Maths covers the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, telling the time to five minutes, thirds and pictograms, while science looks at habitats, how seeds and bulbs grow, and choosing the right material for a job. The Key Stage 1 tests are now optional for schools.
