Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. KeyStage only uses cookies that are strictly necessary to sign you in and keep the grown-ups' area secure. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, or tracking pixels, so we don't need to ask for your consent and there is no cookie banner.
The cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | What it's for | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| parent_unlock | KeyStage | Keeps the grown-ups' area unlocked after you enter your PIN, so you don't have to type it on every page. | 20 minutes |
| __session (may have a suffix) | Clerk, our sign-in provider | Proves you are signed in. Refreshed automatically while you use the app. | About a minute at a time, renewed while you are signed in |
| __client_uat (may have a suffix) | Clerk | Records when your sign-in last changed, so the app knows whether you are signed in. | Up to a year, or until you sign out |
| __client | Clerk (on our sign-in subdomain) | Keeps you signed in on this device between visits. | Until you sign out, or it expires |
Local storage
The app may also keep small conveniences in your browser's local storage, such as remembering a choice on that device. This stays on your device, isn't used for tracking, and you can clear it at any time in your browser settings.
Other services
- Payments. When you pay, you do so on Stripe's secure pages, and Stripe uses its own cookies there to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy and cookie policies.
- Videos. Optional lesson videos are played through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may store information in the browser when a video plays. You can switch videos off for each child in the grown-ups' area.
- Photos are loaded from Wikimedia, which does not set advertising cookies.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but you won't be able to sign in or unlock the grown-ups' area without them. For more about how we handle information, see our privacy notice.
