Key Stage 2 · Year 5 · ages 9 or 10
Year 5: topics explained for parents
Year 5 is the year before the Key Stage 2 tests, with bigger numbers and more demanding ideas. Children work with numbers to 1,000,000, factors, primes, long multiplication and percentages, and in English they add extra information with relative clauses and brackets. Science covers life cycles, human development, the solar system, gravity and how materials dissolve and separate.
