Key Stage 2 · Years 5 and 6 · ages 9 to 11
Years 5 and 6 science: what your child learns
Years 5 and 6 ask children to plan their own investigations, control variables, repeat readings and present results as line graphs and scatter graphs. The topics include life cycles, puberty, dissolving and irreversible changes, gravity, the Earth and space, classification, the circulatory system, evolution, light and circuits. Science is teacher-assessed at the end of Year 6, not tested like English and maths.
