Year 1 science: what your child learns
Year 1 science is about getting to know the world around your child, from common wild and garden plants to fish, birds, mammals and other animals. Children tell evergreen from deciduous trees, group animals as plant eaters, meat eaters or both, name amphibians and reptiles, and label body parts and the senses. They describe materials such as wood, plastic, glass, metal, water and rock, and notice how weather and day length change with the seasons.
